  • 55-65 USD / Hour

Job Description:

Location: Portsmouth, NH — 100% Remote

The Opportunity

If you've built real pediatric CDI expertise and you're tired of it being a fraction of your caseload, this role is entirely pediatric. Every chart, every query, every provider conversation is focused on children's hospitals and pediatric programs — at $55 to $65 per hour, fully remote, with the option of full-time at 40 hours per week or part-time on a flexible basis.

The organization behind this work partners with children's hospitals and pediatric programs to build and optimize CDI and Physician Advisor programs. The team includes physicians, nurses, and pediatric healthcare leaders from across the country, many of whom still see patients, conduct research, teach trainees, and hold clinical and administrative leadership roles at children's hospitals. Your provider education and query practice will be reviewed by people who understand pediatric medicine from the inside.

Why This Opportunity Is Worth a Look

  • $55 – $65 per hour, with full-time (40 hours) or flexible part-time scheduling
  • 100% remote, with company-issued equipment provided for full-time employees
  • Exclusively pediatric CDI — NICU, PICU, and complex pediatric acuity, not an adult caseload with a few peds charts mixed in
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus a 401(k) with company match
  • Generous paid time off plus eight paid holidays
  • Complimentary annual CEUs, advanced coding education, leadership training, and internal career growth paths
  • Structured onboarding, employee wellness resources, discount programs, and referral bonuses

What Your Week Looks Like

  • Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of pediatric medical records for completeness, clinical specificity, and accuracy
  • Identify documentation opportunities tied to pediatric diagnoses, procedures, complications, comorbidities, severity of illness, risk of mortality, medical necessity, and quality measures
  • Write compliant provider queries when documentation is incomplete, conflicting, nonspecific, or clinically unsupported — then follow up and escalate when needed
  • Educate pediatric physicians, advanced practice providers, residents, and multidisciplinary teams on documentation requirements
  • Partner with pediatric coding professionals to align documentation with accurate code and DRG assignment
  • Work alongside quality, compliance, revenue cycle, and client teams to improve documentation and quality outcomes
  • Contribute to second-level reviews, peer reviews, quality audits, DRG reconciliation, and client reporting
  • Spot documentation trends and turn them into targeted provider education

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of three years of clinical documentation integrity experience
  • At least one year of CDI experience focused specifically on pediatric patient populations
  • One or more active credentials: RN, CCDS, or CDIP
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, Official Coding Guidelines, MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodology, severity of illness, risk of mortality, medical necessity, and quality reporting
  • Familiarity with compliant query practices and applicable AHIMA and ACDIS guidance
  • Solid grounding in pediatric physiology, disease processes, treatments, and clinical indicators
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and CDI software
  • A dedicated secure home workspace, high-speed internet, and strict adherence to HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements

Preferred: NICU or PICU encounter review; second-level reviews, peer reviews, quality audits, mortality reviews, or DRG reconciliation; experience educating and engaging pediatric physicians and APPs.
